Lynette O'Kane
My work is an investigation of change and transformation. The materials, with their earthy surface and distressed textures, allude to the alterations of matter through aging and weathering elements. The thick, rough surfaces find a counterpoint in the strong use of bold linear elements and the smooth detail of the painted or drawn images. The work is consistent with the rural natural environment of my home and of my daily interface with nature. They are robust and tactile and seek to engage the viewer on both a physical and intellectual level.
