Contemporary Encaustic 2017
Nature is my refuge; I am constantly noticing its genius and continually inspired. Enamored by the earth’s elements, I gather objects; they are symbols of my connection. This practice of collecting propels each idea, or piece into motion. To begin, these items are reflected upon, catalogued, and chosen as working models or sketches. My assemblages then come together with encaustic, a mixture of hot beeswax and damar tree resin. This process bridges my sculpture and painting background, with my infatuation of the natural world.
My goal is to bring the viewer closer, to form their own connections within themselves and with nature and the elements.
